Jessica McCall is a mission-driven strategist who implements political insight and intuition to advance the agendas of public servants, revenue-generated social enterprises and nonprofits. She serves as the VP of Marketing and External Affairs at Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit (Goodwill Detroit), a full-serve workforce development agency. Previously, she led Mayor of Detroit, Mike Duggan’s Department for Constituent Affairs where she connected city residents to critical resources and developed tools that made Detroit’s city government more efficient and effective for its residents. Her strategies and contributions led to the implementation of the Mayor’s Help Desk, a web-based tool that gives constituents direct access to the mayor allowing them to request his assistance with addressing their issues and concerns.
Prior to joining Mayor Duggan’s administration, Jessica traveled to 46 states and planned events throughout the world on behalf of the Obama Administration. Having joined then-Senator Obama’s National Advance Team one month after he announced his candidacy for US President, Jessica combined her expertise in messaging and mobilization to help build the Obama coalition that led to his historic election. In 2009 Jessica received a presidential appointment and formally joined President Barack Obama’s administration as a Special Assistant to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. During that time Jessica was instrumental in the strategic outreach and public relations that achieved the passage of Obamacare, formally known as The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. For President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign, Jessica was promoted to Director of Campaign Scheduling for Michelle Obama, where she oversaw the logistics and planning of Mrs. Obama’s campaign schedule often coordinating complicated one-day, multi-state trips and always having her home in time for dinner with her girls.
Jessica began her career at Neiman Marcus in Troy, Michigan as an assistant manager. Although she was on the fast-track to becoming an executive in luxury retail, a call to public service moved her to join her first campaign in 2002 for then-gubernatorial candidate Jennifer Granholm. After that history-making win, Jessica served in the governor’s administration in a wide range of capacities in the areas of operations and political appointments.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Jessica is committed to civic engagement and organizing underserved populations to advocate on behalf of their best interests.
Jessica earned her undergraduate degree in Merchandising Management from Michigan State University. She is a native of Farmington Hills and current resident of Detroit. Jessica is a proud daughter and loving aunt.
